Not just a deli counter, and not just a coffee bar. The Fresh Counter is where we show off a little bit.
Cakes, pies, muffins and cookies baked fresh in our kitchen by our pastry chef, Enid Stewart. The case is constantly changing with delicious and beautiful pastries all prepared in house. We also bake the bread for the cafe in house, and it is available for sale.
Selection of salads and soups, based on what looks good in the garden from Black Walnut Gardens inspires us.
Over-stuffed sandwiches prepared with local cheeses and meats, and vegetables from our farm. All our bread is fresh-baked in house and available to order. We choose whole grain, organic loaves because it’s nice for the planet and even nicer for your body. Plus, you know, it tastes better too.
Phil & Sebastian direct trade coffees brewed on the Fetco or in espresso-based drinks created on our Synesso Cyncra espresso machine. We also love the herbal teas from our friends at Honey Pie Herbals, and organic, eco-ethical teas from Whole World Trade.
On the cold and refreshing side: minimally-processed juices from Black River Juice Company, Santa Cruz Organic sodas, or made-to-order Italian sodas in a variety of unusual flavours. What we won’t offer, however, is bottled water. We proudly serve Wellington’s finest tap water – triple filtered by us – in our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint. Instead, we’ll happily sell you some tap water in a compostible corn-based cup for the cost of the cup or, even better, fill up the water bottle you bring in with you.
