Published by

Summer is finally here! Our hours will continue to be from 7am -3pm 7 days a week.

Join us for breakfast, lunch, snacks, drinks (coffees, teas, juices, beer and wine), treats or all of the above thought out the summer!

Enid is always making lots of new baked goods!

Kevin Scanlon and Trish Worron have an amazing show in the cafe right now called Strips and Strides, come on in and check it out. In July we will have a new artist!

As many people know we are looking to sell the business. We have not found the right person yet, so we’ll be sticking around for a bit. If you do love the cafe, and have always thought about how great it would be to own one. Call Christine Henden at remax in picton (613-476-5900) to learn more about the cafe. Dave and I are having a great experience, but are ready for a new adventure.

Spring is almost here!

Published by

Spring should be settling in this week. I know it’s hard to believe, but stay positive and maybe within a couple of weeks we will have our chairs outside!

Our hours continue to be 7-3,  7 days a week!

Maple in the county is coming soon! Drop by for some delicious desserts, a good cup of coffee to settle the sweetness of the weekend or some delicious to food to clean your palette for your next maple adventure!

For March and April we have a new group of artists displaying their work in the cafe! Come on in and check it out. Here is some info on the Quinte fibre artists!

A group of women, led by Jane Sheppard and Joan Reive, gathered informally to explore their common interest in the fibre arts in the 1980s.  With more members and monthly meetings in the participants’ homes, the group eventually named themselves the Quinte Fibre Artists.  Today, there are ten members with varied backgrounds in textiles and fibre.

Inspiring and critiquing each other’s work are two valuable functions of our monthly exchanges.  New ideas, products, techniques and reading materials are shared and discussed.  Group challenges and projects get us thinking in new directions and experimenting with the latest fibre and mixed media products.  Members return to their studios refreshed and often with a new perspective on their own work.

Every other year we produce a showing of our work, held at the Parrott Gallery in the Belleville Public Library.  We see the show as a celebration of our unity and our individuality; ten different minds focussed on the creation of fibre art works.

The Quinte Fibre Artists are: Joan Reive, Ann Fales, Pat Sztuke, Mary Andrews Minnigan, Sabina McLuhan, Carol Peterson       Karen Kaiser, Marta Smith, Marianne Sanders and  Marta Mouka.

We are having a great fall season in the cafe this year! The cafe has not been sold yet,  we have had and are having good conversations with potential buyers.

Stewart Jones has a display of sketches of musicians in the cafe! They are wonderful and a great display, they will be up and changing around throughout the months of November and December.

Enid is coming up with new baked delicious goods daily! There is a doughnut schedule – Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday  feature french cream, and Italian bomboli, Wednesday is french quarter beignets and Friday is cinnamon sugar brioche doughnuts.  She also makes Montreal style bagels which are flying off the counter Tuesday – Saturday. There are plain, sesame, double cheese and everything. Fresh bread, and pastries are  also available to order as well!

A reminder our hours  are 7am -3pm 7days a week!!

We are ready for a new adventure!

Published by

To all of our friends and loyal customers, it’s with very mixed emotions that we must tell you all that it’s time for Dave, Molly, and I to move on. We’ve had two amazing years getting to know you all and being able to provide a home away from home for many of you in our little cafe. We’ve loved every moment of our life here in Wellington and will miss the town, the Tall Poppy, and all of you enormously. But for a variety of reasons we must now put the cafe in the hands of others to hopefully carry on the tradition of good wholesome well prepared food served in a comfortable family-friendly cafe-style environment – with the best coffee in the County.

If you, or any one you know is interested in taking over the legacy of the Tall Poppy and running it with the love and care that Dave and I have put into it, please call Danielle at 613 243 3841, or tallpoppycafe@gmail.com.

We will continue to provide the service and atmosphere that the Tall Poppy has become known for until such time as we find someone worthy of your loyalty and high expectations to take it over.

With sadness and optimism,

Danielle, Dave and, of course, Molly.

Our hours for the fall will continue to be 7am-3pm daily.

Our feature artist is Karen Kaiser. She does amazing rug hooking, here is her website as her cards are flying off our counter! http://www.artworksbykarenkaiser.net/

Stay warm and enjoy the fall colours!!!
