Homemade fruit and nut granola, Greek yogurt and fruit compote

Lunch (11:30 to 3pm)

Jarrahdale pumpkin and grilled vegetable soup

Tomato chile soup

Goodfellow’s smoked ham, mayo and fresh garden greens, served with salad

Sundried tomato, caramelised onions and feta on puff pastry,  served with salad

Homemade cheesy macaroni with caramelised onions and tomatoes, served with salad

Beefy chili, served with a warm cheese biscuit

Hummos, warm pita and olives

Falafel wrap with lemony tahini sauce

A special treat today: Jarrahdale pumpkin and grilled vegetable soup, featuring an unusual squash grown on Tall Poppy Farm. The Jarrahdale Pumpkin is considered one of the tastiest and has the most gorgeous slate grey exterior. It’s rare in the these parts, but much better known in Australia where Ally and Mark have grown them. I know what I’m having for lunch.

Woke up this morning to two new comments under yesterday’s menu posting. Most days we just get spam from people wanting us to link to their hit-generating website, or the one that sells special pharmaceuticals at a mere fraction of the cost of a (legitimate) drug store. It can be a bit disheartening, because I can see the daily stats and I know real people are reading too (and not just my mom). So to Diane and Laura – thank you for taking the time to comment!

We admire the people who get up and out the door in the dark, cold mornings of November. Our early customers never complain about the hour, the lack of sun or the chill. They’re just glad to have a place to get a good cuppa joe in the morning. It’s why we’re committed to being open 7 days a week at 7am, even when the sun doesn’t start shining for another hour after that.
